FAQs about Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication in Mississauga
What Is A CNC Turret Punch Press?
It is a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) type of sheet metal fabrication metal machine that makes use of different shapes and sizes of tools to punch out or cut sheet metal part profiles. With our massive tooling inventory, these machines are very versatile and fast. The machines are also able to perform forming operations (lances, small bends, knockouts, emboss, countersinking, and tapping, among others) that other forms of CNC cutting technology is unable to do. Our Amada machinery is renowned for being the finest in the industry, and it has large turrets that have 58 stations to allow punching of cuts that range from 0.040″ to 4.500″ in size.
What Benefits Does Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication Offer?
The major benefits include the following:
Ability to create practically anything, ranging from unique designs to various sizes from small up to very large products.
Offers an effective way to control quality, from shape to design and dimensional tolerance.
Cost-effective given that that final product will meet your applications’ specific requirements. No further adjustments will be necessary.
Your input is part of the whole fabrication process because you will work closely with the custom sheet metal fabrication company’s team.
Your team closely working with our custom sheet metal fabrication company means that your job can be completed quickly.
Increases product durability and usefulness – sheet metal is fabricated to meet your specific working conditions and environment, including vibrations, stress, chemicals, and temperature.
Increases productivity and efficiency – the custom sheet metal fabrication process allow you to optimize your design, to make it more suitable and compatible to meet your unique needs. That will increase productivity and efficiency.
What is Design for Manufacturability (DFM)?
This is where the client and metal sheet fabrication work together to examine the resources, manufacturing capability, and part design to ensure that the manufacturing will be efficient and cost-effective.
It also takes into consideration the client’s requirements, the conforming set of quality standards, and production needs (quantity). Therefore, the following are also examined:
- Quality testing compliance
- Environmental compliance
- Material type
- Quality compliance
- Part specifications
What is a CNC press brake machine?
This is a type of machine used to perform bends within sheet metal parts. The acronym CNC is short for Computer Numerical Control. That means that software programming controls the machine, and PLC controllers offer the highest repeatability level, and all of the different variables are controlled by the machine’s computer instead of manually, including die selection, back gauge settings, pressure, and more.
What are the major differences between metal fabrication and metal stamping?
Metal stamping may refer to a number of different metal forming operations – along with stretching, folding, pressing, bending, and stamping operations that might be used for producing the final part. Metal stamping processes all use punch presses that have custom-made dies and tooling to produce a pattern, shape, or another characteristic that is required by a part. Generally speaking, the stamping process is able to provide tighter tolerances compared to metal fabrication. It is a cost-effective and fast way to produce large quantities of metal parts.
Metal fabrication involves three-dimensional metal parts being manufactured via bending, cutting, and/or other types of assembly processes. Usually, more specialized equipment is required by fabrication, like welding, CNC turret presses, CNC press brakes, and CNC laser cutter. Metal fabrication is frequently the most economical way to produce lower quantities of parts since the tooling needed for stamping can be expensive. Fabrication also offers greater design flexibility compared to stamping, since there is no tooling that needs to be changed if your part design needs to be altered.
How do press brakes work?
They work by clamping sheet metal in between different dies and punches. That formed the bends within the material that are required. The size of these bends is determined by backguages. The dies, punches, and RAM determine the radius and angles of the bends. Also, CNC brakes allow most of the calculations to be performed by the controllers that are necessary to do the process efficiently and accurately.
How Does The Metal Fabrication Process Work?
The process begins by you telling us what your specifications are for your project, which includes the kind of metal you want to use, the quantity, the measurements, and the date you need to have it by. We will then design your project and after receiving your approval, we will start the manufacturing process. We do all of the designing, manufacturing, and construction on-site and oversee your project to ensure that it meets all of your criteria and requirements. Our experienced and highly skilled technicians along with our state-of-the-art equipment including welding machines, CNC punching machines, and CNC laser cutters allow us to produce the highest-quality products for our clients.
