Since our start in 1971, Bayview Metals has earned a solid reputation in the contract manufacturing industry. Today, our Quality Management System (QMS) for the “Manufacture of Precision Sheet Metal” is more robust than ever, supporting our clients across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) from our facility in Ajax, Ontario. Building on our 30 years of ISO certification, we have modernized our manufacturing approach to go far beyond standard compliance.
We utilize a hybrid QMS model that seamlessly integrates the strict, process-driven framework of our ISO 9001:2015 compliant system with proactive Customer Success Management (CSM) strategies. Our ultimate objective is to maintain a reputation for excellence by meeting your exact expectations on time, every time, while empowering our workforce to drive continuous improvement and deliver a Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Traditionally, quality systems in the sheet metal fabrication industry focus primarily on delivering a compliant product and measuring reactive customer satisfaction. Our advanced hybrid approach shifts this focus entirely to proactive customer success.
- Customer Success Evaluations & DFM: During our Quoting and Order Acceptance processes, we do more than just verify material availability and provide accurate pricing. For new customers and intricate parts, our enhanced Contract Review Checklist prompts our team to actively verify your “design intent” and apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles before production begins. We strive to thoroughly understand the end-use application of your part so we can guarantee it achieves your broader operational goals.
- Outcome-Based Functional Testing: We have elevated our final inspection processes to include rigorous functional testing. Rather than just checking basic tolerances, we align our functional testing with your definition of a successful deployment—such as verifying the fit, form, and function of mechanical assemblies to ensure the custom part works seamlessly in your real-world application.
Rigorous Inspection Test Plan (ITP)
Our precision sheet metal manufacturing process operates under highly controlled conditions to mitigate common industry risks like raw material defects and scheduling delays. We execute a strict Inspection Test Plan (ITP) that mandates comprehensive checks at every single stage of production:
- Receiving Inspection: 100% of received materials undergo a strict visual inspection for surface defects and a complete verification against the original Purchase Order. Product thickness is also strictly verified with mill test reports prior to shearing or punching.
- In-Process Inspection: We mandate a 100% inspection during initial machine setup, including a First Article Inspection (FAI) to check the initial part against precise engineering specifications. Our expert operators also conduct random dimensional and process parameter checks throughout the entire production run.
- Final Inspection: Before any finished product leaves our facility, our Shipping Department conducts a 100% inspection of critical dimensions and visual finishes to guarantee pristine turnkey delivery.
Continual Improvement & Strict Corrective Action
Our active QMS remains strictly enforced across all departments through a deeply rooted culture of continual improvement.
Our Commitment to Operational Excellence: We continually refine our processes, utilize advanced technology, and upskill our workforce to ensure that every custom metal enclosure, bracket, and component meets the highest standards.
- Internal Auditing: Comprehensive internal quality audits are performed by objective and independent personnel at a minimum of once per year to monitor the condition, status, and effective implementation of our system.
- Management Review: Our leadership team maintains continuous oversight through regular monthly management meetings and an annual comprehensive review to assess QMS conformance, adequacy, and clear opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Non-Conformance Control: We strictly control nonconforming outputs by isolating suspect products, conducting thorough root-cause analyses, and implementing documented corrective actions that are actively verified for long-term effectiveness.
- Competence & Training: We heavily utilize both external and specialized on-the-job training—tracked via a New Employee Orientation Form and a dedicated Training Matrix—to ensure our workforce remains highly knowledgeable and fully capable of meeting precise customer requirements.
